Mastercard Announcement: New CIT/MIT Indicators (AN 5524)

Mastercard is introducing a new indicator to specify the type of cardholder-initiated transaction (CIT) or merchant-initiated transaction (MIT) within Dual Message System transaction requests (Authorization), Single Message System transaction requests, and applicable Clearing messages. In addition, Mastercard is extending the requirement for acquirers globally to populate the recurring payment indicator when submitting a card-not-present CIT that starts a series of recurring payments and each subsequent recurring payment.
